NECC in Atlanta
Ahhhh…Atlanta in June….it’s hot!
But, so is NECC (National Educational Computing Conference) sponsored by ISTE.
There are about 16000 people registered for the event this year. That is a lot of Ed Tech supporters all gathered in one place. Everywhere you go, you hear conversations about technology and learning and new directions. You can join in or listen and ponder.
Two of us from PENNCREST are among the attendees and we will be sharing some posts from sessions we attend. This is our 2nd NECC experience (Philadelphia in 2005), and the focus is very different than it was 2 years ago. Blogging and podcasting are an expected part of the conference, and Second Life has a presence as well! It is less about how to create a good PowerPoint and more about Student-centered, Learner-directed opportunities. Web 2.0 is a theme evident in many session topics
If you aren’t quite sure what blogs, podcasts, and Web 2.0 are, check out some of the resources on the NPAECT site and visit iste.org for more about their presence in Second Life.
We are planning to post daily-but, the wireless internet provided by our hotel is less than dependable- we get connection for about 3 minutes at a time, so… we’ll be back when the connection returns!
