One Laptop Per Child XO laptop arrives
I got a Christmas present tonight when I got home from work. I had ordered an OLPC during the “give one get one” campaign that was available in early November, and it arrived today.
I am still playing with it to see what all of the different applications do, but I did connect to my wireless and send a couple emails. I also used the built in camera to take a picture. It has an rss style news reader also.
The keyboard is extremely small, but for the children this is intended for it is probably fine. I have posted some pictures of the laptop here.
There are word processor, calculator, audio/video/photo, web browser, music, paint, games, etoys and turtle art applications on the laptop. The unit has some keys and buttons that are there in preparation for operating system and application upgrades.
I will continue to explore and will share more about the laptop as I work with it.
